I'm currently designing thoughtful digital experiences across healthcare, student communities, and consumer platforms, creating interfaces that feel intuitive, approachable, and genuinely helpful for the people using them.

A little bit about me

I'm Sophia Yang, a UI/UX designer based in Vancouver with a passion for creating digital experiences that feel intuitive, approachable, and genuinely enjoyable to use. What I love most about design is taking something complex and turning it into an experience that feels simple and natural for users.

My work has ranged from healthcare software and student platforms to consumer-focused apps, and across every project, I’m especially interested in understanding how people think, behave, and interact with technology in their everyday lives.

Outside of design, I love playing video games, trying new recipes, and cafe hopping around the city looking for good matcha and cozy spaces. I also have one cat and three turtles, which definitely keeps life interesting.

Experience

UX/UI Intern • Jan 2026 - Current

I designed user-centered experiences for the Globe Pulsed Field System through workflow analysis, usability-focused design decisions, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. By learning the needs of physicians and software operators, I helped create interfaces and systems that improved clarity, consistency, and efficiency within high-pressure clinical environments.

UI/UX Designer • Aug 2025 - Apr 2026

I helped redesign the UBC Science Undergraduate Society’s website and merch shop by creating modern, student-focused website experiences alongside a team of designers and developers. Through collaborative design systems, branding updates, and iterative feedback, we built a scalable platform now used by over 10,000 science students.
